Breath of the Wild’s Ganon-slaying ancient hero revealed in Tears of the Kingdom

In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the WildLink is told of Calamity Ganon’s chronic defeat by a vast army of Guardians, four divine beasts, a mighty princess with the blood of a goddess, and a hero of his time, as chosen by the Master Sword.

The identity of the hero who fought alongside the princess and the forces of the Kingdom of Hyrule nearly 10,000 years ago has been the subject of great debate for the past six years, leading some to theorize that it was Ganondorf himself—the antagonist of FeetIZelda II: Tears of the Kingdom – who defeated and sealed Calamity Ganon before a massive heel turn. but a major closing event in tears of the kingdom gives players a better look at who that hero really was, even though the reveal leaves a lot of unanswered questions.

As you can see, the Aura of the Ancient Hero not only gives Link another weapon of zonai technology, it takes him completely out of it and turns him into another species entirely. Ancient hero decked in zonai beauty that players see throughout creation tears of the kingdom and Calamity wears the long, fiery red hair depicted in the Ganon lore tapestry that Impa shows in Link breath of the wild, However, the name of that ancient hero remains unknown – and is certainly ripe for exploration in future Zelda material.

The Ancient Hero appears to be a Zonai, based on shared physical aspects with Rauru, a Zonai and co-founder of the Kingdom of Hyrule. Rauru plays the lead role tears of the kingdomstory, through flashbacks and as a guide during tutorials. Hopefully, we’ll learn more about this mysterious new hero and his ties to Hyrule’s lore in the years to come.
