The latest Riot Forge game is another story set League of Legends Step outside the confines of Summoner’s Rift to explore a little piece of the universe, the world. ruined king centered on Bildwater and the Shadow Islands, the magseeker Demecia was about, and now we have a way to find out about Zaun for himself. Convergence: A League of Legends Story (style as Conversion / RGENCE) is the latest Riot Forge game developed by Double Stallion.
convergence is an action-platformer in the vein of Castlevania or Metroid, and it focuses on the adventurous protagonist Ecko. It’s a solid game that can be beaten in a few sittings, packed with likeable characters and tense boss fights. Some of the platforming can be a bit complicated, but luckily, I have a suite of gizmos to get me through the trickiest bits.
Ecko is an inventor who creates gadgets such as local time-travel devices and wall-running shoes, but his Real Shakti is his heart of gold. He was born in Zaun, a steampunk city built in the shadows and crevices beneath what appears to be a shiny tech utopia piletop. The two cities have a symbiotic relationship, with Piltover taking advantage of his position on Jaune to oppress his people.

I take control of Ecco after a massive explosion in a Zonite spire sends a mysterious orange substance everywhere and attracts the attention of the ruthless Chem-Barons and the Piltover elite. Also, an old and ominous future Ekko has appeared to warn me of some great disaster. All of this suggests that there’s a crisis on the horizon, and Ekko isn’t the type of kid to sit by and let it happen.
Ecko has helpful gadgets to aid her on her journey, such as her Z-Drive, which allows her to turn the clock back a few seconds. It’s clearly a useful tool; Every time I get hit by a few too many sniper shots or I fall into an abyss, I just reverse the clock and get back in action. with ecco’s capabilities League of Legends All appear in some form or another, allowing me to leap through walls, freeze platforms in midair, and in a pinch I can jump back in time and massively kill everyone around me. But I can pop to cause damage.
Ecko also has some new abilities that she lacks. Federation but i am decisive convergence, Navigating around the Zaun requires special footwear and sweet moves. The platforming feels great, but it basically requires a controller — using the keyboard and mouse is a good way to fall down infinite pits and miss catch times. I grind on tracks, run along walls, and move around using poles and clothes lines.
Occasionally, I run into a dead end that requires a new gadget to navigate. convergence There’s a map at hand that I can access at any time, and the corners of Jaune are filled with collectibles, races, and challenges. I wish parts of the map weren’t so locked behind platforming — it seems a bit silly to vault, jump, spin, and bypass obstacles to get back to my apartment. I think this is just the Zune for you!

And in fairness, Jaune is a weird town – but that also makes it fun to explore. The city is a dark place by nature, built of iron and glass, but its citizens have decorated the place with neon lights and bright graffiti. The Zaun and its inhabitants are full of personality, and Double Stallion’s sprites are cartoon-likely exaggerated with heavy black lines and bold colors. The voice acting in the game is also solid; I’ve never been a big fan of Ecko, but he grew on me quite a bit during the course of the adventure.
Other Riot Forge games have focused on parts of Runeterra that are largely unexplored, but we’ve seen plenty of Jaune — especially in the Netflix animated series. of distinction, if you are expecting convergence follow up Secret, You might get confused, because they are different continuities. Ekko’s parents are here instead of being a sad orphan, and he rolls into a different headquarters with a different group of friends.
But if you go inside with no hope of distinction, convergence A great adventure. Ecko faces off against some great boss battles against champions like Camille, Warwick, and Jinx. These boss fights force you to play differently; Camille uses the high ground and hextech equipment to control the battlefield, while Warwick is a raw force of nature that is best dodged and controlled. watching these champions out Federation Riot is a reminder of the promise of the Forge games. As it turns out, many of these characters perform best outside the confines of a competitive game. convergence Provides them with yet another opportunity to shine in their element.
