I love products that reward fans by bringing them closer to the center of their favorite world. i will never forget to find Dragonlovers Guide to Pern, a book written by science fiction author Anne McCaffrey, includes a recipe for Klah—a coffee-like drink that has been a fixture in my favorite fantasy world since childhood. That’s why I’m so excited for fans of Critical Role and the legend of vox machina, Because later this year they will get a chance to taste the world of Taldori.

Publisher Penguin was kind enough to share a sneak peek with Random House readers. This is a pasta dish known as Percival de Rollo’s Revenge Pasta, and I’m sure you can guess what the main ingredients are.

Garlic. This is garlic – 20 whole cloves Of garlic
As far as the recipe is concerned, it is absolutely grounded in the world of Critical Role Feast of Heroes: The Official Dungeons & Dragons Cookbook Based in the worlds of Faerûn and Krynn. But, compared to the slightly more technical recipes in that excellent book, De Rollo’s Revenge Pasta leaves plenty of room for improvisation—much like a good episode of an actual drama. My family added to the meal by rolling up some Hickory Smoked Chicken Breasts on the grill, with Simply Italian Dressing, a fresh baby kale and beet salad, and a nice aged Barrovian wine that just arrived in the mail.
Good News! There’s no one left to talk about, the kids are screaming for more, and I’m invited to a mysterious palace with impeccable taste in red. Add a little extra garlic to the overnight bag just to be on the safe side.
Exclusive Xendria: The Official Cookbook of Critical Role Arrives August 29 with a retail price of $29.99. It includes a foreword by Quyen Tran and Sam Regal. You can pre-order with your local bookseller and online.
